What American accent do you have?

What American accent do you have?

Your Result: The Midland

“You have a Midland accent” is just another way of saying “you don’t have an accent.” You probably are from the Midland (Pennsylvania, southern Ohio, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, and Missouri) but then for all we know you could be from Florida or Charleston or one of those big southern cities like Atlanta or Dallas. You have a good voice for TV and radio.

Cookbook Kitchen

borrowed this image from Anton’s blog

Last night I went to dinner with my Panget and his family – this was to celebrate his birthday the day before. I learned of this place from Christine (who learned it from Anton) – I was very eager to try it out, and my Panget and I finally did last month.

We picked this place for my Panget’s Birthday treat because this restaurant is quiet, serves comfort food and at the same time it’s not crowded (for Baby Elle’s sake). It’s tucked in a small street in Mandaluyong – if you’re driving too fast – you just might miss it. (No kidding!)

When we arrived – we were the only ones there first – there were no other customers yet – and it was quiet, slightly dimmed – kinda homey. The servers were all smiling and attentive. The place is like a small living room that was converted into a restaurant – it was small but not that small – it can probably hold a function that would fit 40 people.

When the rest of my Panget’s family members arrived – I was kind of nervous that they might not like the food there. Not that I think the resto is not so great, but I think they a high expectation of the taste of the food. We ordered the following dishes:
– Parmersan Crusted White Fish
– Fish Casserole
– Pork Steak with Honey Mustard
– Pan-fried Chicken
– CBK Chicken

20 minutes had passed and our orders haven’t been served yet, my Panget’s dad was starting to complain and asked the servers if they gave any free bread since our orders were taking forever. The smiled, apologized and said they didn’t. I think maybe they should next time – as the baking time (if you’re getting the Fish dishes) takes a little longer than usual. Good thing that after a few minutes – they our food arrived!

Parmesan Crusted White Fish

The verdict? THEY ALL LOVED THE FOOD! I loved the Fish Casserole, my Panget loved his Pork Chops, my Panget’s mom, dad and sister loved the Parmesan Crusted White Fish! It was a runaway winner!

I was impressed with the food – everything they served us tasted magnificent. I’m not exaggerating but – they tasted so great that we had a second order of the Parmesan Crusted White Fish! Now, I know why this remains their best seller!

I can’t wait to eat there again!!

Container Van – hauling

We have this 40 foot container that we have been trying to get rid of for the past few months. It was only last June that we were able to sell it to a family friend. I was told that the container will be hauled out of our place today.

We all waited for it.

We all wondered how it will be hauled out.

At exactly 2:30pm – 3 vehicles arrived. 1 truck carried the forklift, another truck was for the container itself, and another was for the driver who led the ‘team’ to our place.

I think for about 30 minutes – all the work in our factory stopped. They all looked out and watched as the container was being hauled out.

I’ve never in my whole life seen anything like it! I thought that since I saw small forklifts hauling stacks of cases of San Miguel Beer – that, that was it – but it wasn’t. It’s a LOT different (and heavier!)..

I admire and am impressed by Manong operator – the forklift operator who also choreographed the whole thing. Yes, apparently there needs to be a choreographer/leader who tells people what to do.

It was quite a tedious task. Since our factory was located in a not so big road – the challenge was how to have the truck – that will be carrying the container van – be driven inside the compound. Everyone thought it was hopeless – as they tried more than thrice to buwelta (maneuver) the truck inside. Then Manong Operator came up with a bright idea – he said that he will use the forklift – to lift the end tail of the truck – so it can move in easily. And it did! It was a sight to see!

Here are the pictures that I took – unfortunately – my camera’s battery was dying and so the captures were somehow selective..

Bye bye container! We will surely miss you!!

Transformers

FINALLY! The long wait is over! Watched it last night and I was blown away. There was only one thing that I didn’t like – and it was Megatron. I didn’t expect him to be all spiky, I was expecting the white/silver guy with the head like that of a Storm Trooper! But I guess, it was just me – those I was with, they didn’t care! Haha..

The action scenes were terrific, the dialogue – well, I loved all of it! The humor too, it was a fan-tastic movie for me! I can watch it again and again! I loved the fact that I was surprised to see Bernie Mac aka Bobby Bolivia , Jon Voight aka Defense Secretaty Keller, Jon Tuturro as Agent Simmons, and Anthony Anderson aka Glenn Whitman

The biggest hit in the movie for me was Sam Witwicky played by the youngs Shia Lebouf! I refer to him as the Even Stevens guy because he was in Even Stevens – the way he portrayed his character and delivered his lines – wow.. I’m such a fan! Now I know why this kid is such a ‘hit’ nowadays. Megan Fox aka Carla Santini (Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen) – well, she’s oh-so pretty and sexy and alluring – an eye candy for the guys in the audience! 🙂 She’s hot!

The movie wreaked of Michael Bay. The flare smoke, the empty warehouse, the fight scenes, the camera angles, the romantic kissing scene at the end of the movie – there was a Michael Bay signature in every scene. Duh, but seriously, like what my Panget said – the scenes were taken from Armageddon, The Rock and Bad Boys.

I’d looooooooove to watch it again.

Injured!

I think I may have pulled a muscle in my right lowerback (specifically the upper butt area) I’ve been having this pain for the past 2 weeks and I have just been delaying going to the hilot – to have it fixed somehow.

Last night – I finally found the courage to do so (with my Panget in tow).

And today – I feel…. GREAT!!!

Thanks Aling Manding! You truly are the best!! 🙂

As for Yoga – well, I’m thinking if I should take it down a notch and just do it as often as I can and not everyday as I do now.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm…

How I met your mother

I was told by many that this show is really funny and nice. And last Friday night – I started watching the series. The verdict? Well, I liked it! I found it really funny, it was as if the funny bone in me was unleashed! In the first few minutes I was laughing!

It was quite the opposite of what I was watching for the past few days – Lost, Heroes and 24. It was nice that I was watching something funny – I kind of miss FRIENDS now. I really do! I don’t think there’s any show that can be compared to FRIENDS.

The only thing that comes close for me would be – this show – How I met your mother. The characters were new to me, the only familiar faces were of course Barney who’s played by Dr. Doogie Howser (Neil Patrick Harris) and Michelle the bank chick (Alyson Hannigan). These two are hilarious! I love Barney’s character the most! I find him really really funny – he projects an effortless funny asshole/jerk – but it works! He’s my favorite now. Lily – on the otherhand is subdued but is also funny, the team up of her and Marshall is so great because they complement one another! Ted – well, he’s another story. His humor is more subtle and he’s more loveable compared to the 3 guys. As for Robin – well, she’s cute alright but she’s just too damn straight! I like the fact that she has 5 dogs!

I can’t wait for my brother to download the 2nd season!! I just can’t wait!

And according to Mindy – my favorite TV blogger!! 🙂 She says it’s quite comparable to FRIENDS. I’m getting more and more excited!!

Suit up!!
